🇹🇬 Ecobank commits $2.6bn by 2030 for women-led businesses and agribusiness across Africa
Ecobank Group announced on 29 September a targeted lending commitment of $2.6bn by 2030, including $2bn for women-owned businesses under its Ellevate programme and $600m for agricultural value chains, at its Ecobank@40 Media Conference in Lomé. The pan-African bank said the initiative will be rolled out across its 34 African markets, with plans to expand support from more than 110,000 women-led enterprises to 400,000 formal businesses and open funding pathways for up to 1 million female micro-entrepreneurs.
Ecobank said the agribusiness facility will target the full farm-to-fork chain, including farmers, processors, logistics providers, traders and exporters. The announcement marked the conclusion of the group’s 40th anniversary year and is linked to its trade and payments platforms supporting cross-border business under the AfCFTA.
