🇸🇩 Drone strikes destroy more than 330,000 learning materials in Sudan’s North Kordofan

Drone strikes on two warehouses in Shikan locality, North Kordofan state, on 20 September destroyed more than 330,000 learning materials, including over 292,000 school textbooks and 40,000 Arabic Language and Mathematics Review Books, UNICEF said on 22 September. The supplies had been due for distribution from October 2026 at the start of the new school year to schools in West Bara, Bara and Um Dam, with thousands of children expected to be affected.

UNICEF said the loss is a major setback in an area where conflict has already disrupted schooling and education supplies are difficult to deliver. The agency called on all parties to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure and to uphold international humanitarian law.
