Metroid sets a gold standard for video #game atmosphere through evoking a sense of dread, vulnerability and profound loneliness. It's a masterclass in isolation, environmental storytelling and audio design.

As a fan of Space exploration films, Cosmic Horror and Sci-Fi, I’d like to share a guide on how to play classic Metroid titles on PC, and in my future posts, I plan to have a short review of some of my favorite Films in the genre.

METROID:

Skip the 1986 original and play Metroid: Zero Mission, a brilliant GBA remake. *Use mGBA*

METROID II:

AM2R - Stellar fan-made remake. A native PC application built using the engine style of Metroid: ZM. Fluid controls, fantastic level design, great soundtrack.

SUPER METROID:

Super Metroid Redux. A fantastic qol ROM hack, though opinions are mixed regarding its control changes. modernizes the classic title with GBA-style tweaks.

METROID FUSION:

GBA masterpiece. Widely considered the scariest game in the series. *Use mGBA*
