Something I think is going to be a very real problem soon in this country is massive decline caused by incomplete recovery from natural disasters as our country circles the drain closer and closer to idiocracy.
About nine years ago this time of year, a nor'easter came through here. I didn't think it was particularly bad but it broke a bunch of infrastructure and trees that survived what I thought were more powerful storms before then, and I think it even knocked out power for a few days.
There was a bunch of stuff that was broken in the storm, like parts of the power lines that were broken off and just dangling down (not sure what it's called or what it does) and all these years later some of those things are still like that to this day. Like they just straight up decided to not fix it all the way and just left it like that.
Obviously the power came back despite those things looking broken, but that got me thinking. What's going to happen when as it declines and dumbs down even further and standards and protocols slip even further, more important things are left like that, days turn into weeks, etc? That's already what goes on in places like South Africa
