''Joseph Kennedy Sr. was so notorious for his pro-German stance before and during World War II that he was eventually recalled as U.S. Ambassador to the Court of St. James (Great Britain). According to Jewish film writer Ben Hecht, Kennedy met with fifty leading Jewish film makers in Hollywood and told them not to publicly protest against Hitler or to make films offensive to the dictators of the Axis. He said it would impede victory over the Axis and make people feel a "Jewish War" was going on. Kennedy's connections go even deeper.
In 1939, Kennedy agreed to fly to Paris for a high level meeting with Helmuth Wohlthat, the right-hand-man of Reichsmarschall GΓΆring, for discussions which included a U.S. gold loan to Hitler. This was set up at the behest of James D. Mooney of General Motors, a man who was awarded by Hitler for his service to the Third Reich. The meeting between Kennedy and Wohlthat was called off before it could take place when President Roosevelt forbade it. Undaunted, Kennedy arranged for Wohlthat to come to London. The two met at the Berkeley Hotel on May 9th, 1939 where they reportedly agreed on everything. Roosevelt was outraged. At that point MI5, the British intelligence service, began to scrutinize Kennedy for suspicion of collusion with Britain's enemies.
A few months later, Kennedy commited the most dubious act of his public career when he appointed Nazi sympathizer Tyler Kent to work as code clerk in the London embassy. Kent was to be trusted with the most confidential telegrams which included those from Churchill and Kennedy to the President.''
