By a resolution of the Council of Ministers of the USSR dated 25 December 1964 and an order of the USSR Minister of Defense dated 1 February 1965, the MT-LB multipurpose tracked transporter-tractor was officially adopted into service with the Soviet Army.

Formally, serial production of the MT-LB at the Kharkiv Tractor Plant (KhTZ) began in 1966, but the first industrial batch left the factory floors only in 1967. Nevertheless, by the following year full-scale serial production had been completely established.

The vehicle was intended for towing trailers, mounting various types of equipment, and transporting personnel and cargo.

Frontal armor protection withstands 7.62-mm B-32 armor-piercing rounds from a distance of 250 m at all angles of approach; side armor provides protection against 7.62-mm B-32 AP rounds from 250 m at approach angles of ±75°.

Still in active service with the armed forces of Russia actively seeing action on the Frontline's of Ukraine.

Research to increase the Bradley’s firepower began as early as 1981. The initial concept involved fitting a 35 mm Talon automatic cannon developed by Ares, Inc. for the Eagle air-defense system.

The photo shows the Bradley CVAST (Combat Vehicle Armament System Technology), built in 1985. CVAST was a prototype armament system designed to test the new 35 mm Talon cannon, paired with a twin TOW missile launcher.

The use of a turret with externally mounted weapons (a cleft turret) reduced vehicle height and allowed the Bradley with the CVAST turret to be transported by a C-130 aircraft.

Although the CVAST turret successfully passed firing trials, it never entered full-scale development. Interest later shifted to telescoped unitary ammunition (Case Telescoped Ammunition, CTA), and the project was redesignated as the Combat Vehicle Armament Technology (COMVAT) program. In CTA rounds, the projectile is enclosed within a cylindrical case surrounded by propellant.
This program also remained at the prototype stage.

The Soviet 'ASU-57P' Built in the 1950's this prototype airborne Assault Gun would have the additional benefit of being amphibious.

The vehicle would not see mass production and only have 5 prototypes built.

The main weapon is a 57mm CH-51P gun.
The ASU-57P would be powered by a 55hp M-20E4 engine and had a top speed of 45km/h on land and ~8km/h in water.
