Web Development

📕Pro tip if you're using Postgres:

Set `application_name` in your app's DB connector/ORM/connection URL

This allows you to see human-readable service names for where queries + connections are coming from in pg_stat_activity/dashboards

Super useful to have configured!

🚀 Beginner → Developer: What to Learn in 6 Months

Want to become job-ready but don't know where to start? Here's a practical 6-month roadmap for CSE students 👨‍💻🔥

🟢 Month 1: Programming Fundamentals
• Pick one language: C++, Java or Python
• Learn variables, loops, functions, OOP and basic problem solving

🟢 Month 2: DSA Fundamentals
• Arrays, strings, linked lists, stacks and queues
• Start solving problems regularly

🟡 Month 3: Advanced DSA
• Trees, graphs, heaps, recursion and dynamic programming
• Focus on understanding patterns instead of memorizing solutions

🟡 Month 4: Development
• Learn HTML, CSS and JavaScript
• Build 2-3 small projects

🟠 Month 5: Full-Stack Development
• Learn a frontend framework like React
• Learn backend, APIs and databases
• Build one complete project

🔴 Month 6: Placement Preparation
• Improve your resume and GitHub
• Practice DSA and aptitude
• Prepare CS fundamentals: DBMS, OS and Computer Networks
• Start applying for internships

💡 Don't try to master everything in 6 months. Focus on building strong fundamentals and real projects.

📌 Consistency matters more than completing a roadmap quickly.

How JWT Works

📕Quick React Tip:

Don't subscribe to data that you don't render; it causes unnecessary rerenders. If it's only used in event handlers, read it there.

AI coding agents tend to get this wrong.

Your vibe coded website looks finished, But It's not.

Here are 20 things developers often forget before launch:

• Custom 404 page
• Unique meta title on every page
• Meta description on every page
• Clear CTA above the fold
• Complete favicon set
• robots.txt file
• sitemap.xml
• Open Graph image and metadata
• Descriptive alt text for every image
• Responsive mobile breakpoints
• Sticky mobile CTA where appropriate
• Loading and skeleton states
• Form validation and error states
• Thank-you or success page
• Privacy policy page
• Terms and conditions
• Cookie consent banner, where required
• Analytics and conversion tracking
• Real business contact details
• Compressed, optimized images

Pretty is easy. Shipping properly is the real skill. 🔖

✅ Answer: They’re not the same.

/api/users and /api/users/ are two different URLs.

The trailing slash is part of the path, so the browser and server see them as separate addresses.

It’s not a browser thing. Browsers just send whatever you type. The server (or the framework the programmer set up) decides what to do with each one.

Some servers treat them as completely different pages, others automatically redirect one to the other so users don’t notice.

On pebbl.fun, the version with the slash redirects to the one without it. So only one of them is the “real” page.

One practical difference that often trips people up is how relative links resolve (see the image). That’s why being consistent matters, especially with APIs.

Just use whichever version the docs show. Don’t assume the slash is optional.

Are they actually the same?
