Northeast update: 3D-printed steaks (Perfecta) hit shelves. It’s soy protein, but a printer drew lines on it so it looks like a real cut.
Meanwhile, five companies cleared FDA and USDA for cell-cultivated meat — Upside, Good Meat, Wildtype, Mission Barns, Believer Meats — covering chicken, salmon, and pork fat. It has to be labeled cell-cultivated, barely left the tasting menus, and Believer closed after approval.
So the printer one is soy with a design degree, and the lab one has a permission slip and no shelf. I’ll stick with the cow
