Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan are meeting in Riyadh next week to discuss Iran's proposal for political engagement with the Houthis.
The summit comes as Saudi Arabia faces repeated long-range attacks by the Yemeni group, which seeks to escalate the conflict against its opponents.
Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed the Iran-originated proposal, noting that Tehran distances itself from the Ansar Allah movement.
Houthi leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi denied Saudi allegations of targeting Mecca, calling them an attempt to turn the Islamic world against the group.
