The consulate serves Palestinians in East al‑Quds, the West Bank and Gaza; which is precisely why Tel Aviv wants it gone. #Israel calls Britain’s move “morally distorted”, yet it’s the regime bulldozing homes, expanding settlements and waging war on Gaza. Now it’s trying to punish Britain for finally enforcing international law.

Sa’ar’s countermeasures - expelling British staff from Gaza coordination, blocking PA training, and banning UK figures including Jeremy Corbyn - look less like diplomacy and more like a tantrum from a state used to getting away with anything as long as Washington nods along.

Legal experts in Britain say Israel has no right to close the consulate. East al‑Quds is recognised internationally as occupied Palestinian territory, and shutting the mission would hit Palestinians hardest by cutting consular access and oversight of aid.
