WHITE HOUSE EYES EUROPE’S DIESEL RESERVES

The Trump administration is considering asking European governments to release diesel from strategic reserves as it searches for alternatives to a U.S. export ban.

Europe reportedly holds more than 350 million barrels across government and commercial stockpiles.

With U.S. diesel averaging $6.44 a gallon, the proposal could ease pressure on American supplies — but Germany has already signaled it is unlikely to release reserves purely to lower prices.
