“The Evenks have a belief that life never ends. The fire lit by ancestors will be maintained from generation to generation. My ancestors were reindeer herders. They lived in a chum, my grandmother sang folk tunes to my mother, and she passed them on to me when I was little. Children are always close to the upper world of spirits. It is from there that their soul bird flies to us, to which we address our songs.
The Evenks are an indigenous people of Russia. Descendants of the inhabitants of the Tungusic state, the golden empire. Today they live in territories from the Urals to the Pacific Ocean, from the Arctic Ocean to the steppes of Mongolia. They spread Tungusic culture and heritage. Now it's my turn to pass on the traditions further, through my songs. Grandmother to mother, mother to me, and I to the whole world. I am Aina, 🔗 an author and folk performer.”
