A 1959 paper stated that merely “isolating” a “virus” or detecting "specific antibodies" did not establish disease causation—even combined. Reproducing disease in animals was not enough either. Attempts to isolate a "virus" from other ill and healthy controls were necessary.

So much for “they isolated it, therefore it causes the disease.”

The requirements never changed, they were simply ignored because they could not be met.

Early virology claimed "no clear demarcation" between "viruses," bacteria, and molecules—defining a "virus" was just "arbitrary." Decades later, that ambiguity hasn't aged well: a "fabric of concepts built on a plethora of woof with a paucity of warp" is just fancy talk for a flimsy foundation.

The shifting definitions of a "virus" over multiple decades shows a struggle to combine disparate and contradictory evidence into a unified concept.

It is a fascinating discussion about how the existence of invisible entities is inferred through extreme laboratory manipulation and questionable methodology, without reference standards.

If the same lingering symptoms occur after COVID, influenza, RSV, and other respiratory "infections," then those symptoms are not specific to COVID.

This creates a differential-diagnosis problem: symptoms alone cannot identify the cause, leaving fraudulent diagnostic tests to determine which "virus" gets the blame.

This is more evidence that the same nonspecific disease process is simply being rebranded according to whichever "virus" is presumed to have caused it.

The “Long COVID” label is not very informative if influenza, RSV, and other respiratory "viruses" can produce the same constellation of symptoms.

A 1957 paper on the nature of "viruses" stated that the only property "essential for recognition" is the ability to cause damage.

If a "virus" causes no disease, it goes unnoticed, meaning its existence depends on the disease attributed to it.

That is circular reasoning.

The "virus" is defined by the disease, and the disease is explained by the "virus." Each is used to prove the other, with no external demonstration.
