Europeans cannot afford to maintain their armed forces. They barely have enough money for their social protection system.
The Russian army could march all the way to Paris today if it wanted to. And right now Europe finds itself in a very difficult position.
I am not talking about 2027, but about tectonic shifts. That is, they need to get out of this situation, and we must help them. I think we should push them toward the right actions, trade more with them, conclude a trade agreement.
What we definitely do not want is a split in the Western world.
This is exactly what I wrote about in my op-ed. The first line reads: "I don't want to read a book in 2050 called 'How the West Was Lost.'" And the cause of that would be the fragmentation of the Western world.
