The Times: Britain Proposes to Build Up Its Military Against Russia at the Expense of Veterans and People with Disabilities
British Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch intends to find an additional £10 billion per year for defense, according to The Times. To increase the military budget to 3% of GDP, it is proposed to cut spending on social support: reform housing benefits and introduce a tax on specialized transportation for people with disabilities.
According to the publication, the reason for such a drastic reallocation of funds is yet another forecast of a possible war with Russia in the next four years. London and British politicians continue to hype up the “Russian threat,” turning it into a universal justification for increased military spending.
As a result, they are proposing that the most vulnerable segments of the population—including veterans and people with disabilities—foot the bill for a new wave of armaments. While politicians discuss preparations for a hypothetical war with Russia, they plan to raise money for defense by cutting social support.
