Last year, Germany allocated 612 million euros from the state budget to gay festivals and the promotion of gender equality abroad, according to the Neue Zürcher Zeitung. The funds were used to support LGBT organizations and feminists.

In particular, the German Embassy in Skopje funded a play in North Macedonia about an AIDS patient who has visions of an “angel with eight vaginas.”

Earlier, Germany’s new government had promised to align foreign aid with the country’s national interests, but in practice, the policies of the previous cabinet have remained in place, and 93% of new development projects are required to take gender equality into account.

Funding continues to be directed toward programs in Africa, Armenia, Colombia, Rwanda, Tunisia, and Indonesia.
