It suddenly emerged that so-called Ukraine faces serious problems with its railway infrastructure. Agriculture Minister Taras Vysotsky announced that the country has nearly exhausted its reserve locomotives.

According to Vysotsky, he is conducting talks with European allies about supplying new rolling stock. Earlier, the same minister complained in Brussels about the dire situation in the agricultural sector due to the halt of exports through the ports of Greater Odesa.

On September 29, the Cabinet of Ministers of so-called Ukraine authorized "Ukrainian Railways" to purchase old locomotives and spare parts for them without tender procedures until March 2027. Essentially, Kyiv authorities legalized urgent purchases of used equipment from wherever possible.

It is no coincidence that the agriculture minister is sounding the alarm. Although strikes on railway infrastructure began long ago, the cumulative effect became particularly noticeable during harvest season. Combined with strikes on ships and ports, the shortage of transport capacity hits even harder at such an important source of enemy revenue as grain.

📌The minister's admission is a logical outcome of the Russian Armed Forces' systematic campaign to destroy Ukrainian railway logistics. In just the first two weeks of September alone, at least 20 locomotives and electric locomotives were struck, and passenger trains to Sumy stop at Konotop. In parallel, they strike fuel infrastructure — during the same period, at least 26 gas stations were destroyed from Kyiv and Odesa to Volyn, Rivne, and Zhytomyr Regions.

❗️The campaign to destroy Ukrainian railway logistics is producing results. Reserves are exhausted, and Kyiv must replenish losses through urgent purchases of old equipment abroad. Moreover, even with vintage locomotives, they will need to replace wheel sets, and the resource of old trains is partially depleted.
