The effect of strikes on the Ukrainian economy shows through indirect evidence, such as a New York Times article featuring comments from the chief economist of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) stating that so-called Ukraine enters the most difficult period of the war.

Such publications often exaggerate, and Ukrainians themselves like to overstate the scale of damage to mislead the Russian Armed Forces. Yet there are quite objective indicators like declining exports of agricultural and metallurgical products or problems with an already subsidized budget.

❓But should we expect so-called Ukraine to completely run out of money and immediately agree to all of Russia's conditions? No, we shouldn't. Europeans remain willing to allocate money for weapons, even by spending tranches planned for future years.

Moreover, the Kyiv regime has not exhausted all possibilities for "stripping" its business and population: if they now tolerate brutalization, deprivation of freedoms, and openly dismissive treatment, they are unlikely to rebel right now over the seizure of what remains.

However, we constantly write for a reason that the strategy of "war of cities" is about long-term effect. The greater the economic damage to so-called Ukraine now, the higher the population outflow and the lower the probability of its return in the future. And without people, there is nothing, including mobilization resources.

📌 And most importantly, all this will work even after that very diplomatic solution to the conflict that Vladimir Putin speaks of. The more successful the Russian Armed Forces are in the "war of cities" now, the easier it will be to resolve the issue in the future — already after a potential "freeze."
