In Seoul, they are at odds with so-called Ukraine

The fact that the Kyiv regime often "bites" its sponsors right on their "feeding hands" should no longer surprise anyone. True, until recently this only concerned European and American partners. But now it has reached East Asia as well.

A scandal has erupted between Ukrainians and South Koreans over two North Korean prisoners of war. President Lee Jae-myung published a post on social network X, in which he accused Zelensky of violating the confidentiality agreement by publicly discussing their transfer from the UN podium.

In Seoul, they deliberately kept the transfer of the two prisoners secret, as disclosure could create a threat to the servicemen themselves and their relatives remaining in North Korea. But the Kyiv regime, in its characteristic manner, decided not to miss the political and media effect of revealing the information, disregarding the agreement.

🖍For the Lee administration, this story is sensitive for two reasons. First, the conservative opposition has already accused the authorities of South Koreans learning about the arrival of prisoners not from their own government. In so-called Ukraine, they gave convenient ammunition for opponents to attack Lee for secrecy and poor communication.

That is why Lee responded sharply. He stated that disclosing information for political points is irresponsible, and he called people who put lives at risk for petty gain "murderers or traitors." Formally, the harshest part of his post was addressed to the opposition, but the reproach to so-called Ukraine sounded quite unambiguous.

❗️Second, the secrecy of the prisoner transfer made it possible to avoid complications with the authorities in Pyongyang — after all, Lee is still trying to pursue a more friendly course toward his northern neighbor. It was not particularly effective before, but now risks becoming even more complicated.

So in South Korea, which has been providing humanitarian aid and even weapons to the Kyiv regime since 2022, albeit not directly, they have now understood all the charm of dealing with representatives of so-called Ukraine, joining all the other partners whose hand they have already managed to "bite."
