If the Norse had known your name, they might have mistaken you for Freyja. Had Rome witnessed your passing, they would have spoken of Venus with less certainty. And had the poets of Greece seen the way light lingers upon you, perhaps even Aphrodite would have become a story rewritten by gentler hands. And if Japan had met your gaze, they would have uttered the name Kichijoten with a trace of hesitation, for how could they speak of a goddess when the original stood before them?

Yet I suspect every civilization would have arrived at the same failure the inability to describe you without resorting to divinity.

For what else could they have done?

If every flower that has ever graced the earth were gathered and arranged at your feet roses steeped in longing, peonies burdened with splendor, lilies clothed in purity, sakura adorned with fleeting grace they would seem less like wonders and more like apologies. Not because they lacked beauty, but because beauty itself had chosen a different form that day.

And if the stars were summoned from their celestial dwellings and scattered around you like fragments of heaven, they would discover a cruelty they had never known that radiance alone is not enough to be remembered.

Had you belonged to another century, painters would have exhausted entire lifetimes in pursuit of your likeness, only to leave unfinished canvases behind. Sculptors would have surrendered their chisels in quiet defeat. Poets, finding language insufficient, would have mistaken their silence for reverence.

For there are certain things that exist beyond the reach of description.

The hush before snowfall.
The final note of a forgotten symphony.
The moon resting upon still water.

And you.

You, who make comparisons feel inadequate and metaphors feel small.

You, for whom history would have invented goddesses, had it not been fortunate enough to witness the original.

So let the Norse keep Freyja. Let Rome keep Venus. Let Greece keep Aphrodite.
They were beautiful answers to a question humanity had been asking for centuries.

You, however,
are the reason the question was asked at all.
