Let history remember them as it always has.

And let me remember you as you are.

Not as a deity, not as a celestial phenomenon, not as some impossible ideal that exists only in the imagination of a hopeless romantic.

But as you.

A person made of ordinary hours and imperfect days, of quiet tenderness and little things you may never realize someone has noticed.

A person who does not need to conquer eternity to deserve a place within it.

Because if the universe has spent billions of years creating stars, shaping oceans, and giving life to a thousand different wonders, only for me to exist in the same lifetime as you, then perhaps I have already witnessed more than enough of its magic.

And if, someday, the stars should disappear and every ancient civilization should crumble into dust, I think I would still understand what beauty meant.

I would remember the way you smiled.

The sound of your voice.

The feeling of a moment spent beside you, when nothing extraordinary happened, and yet I wished the evening would last a little longer.

And in a universe that has forgotten the names of its gods, I think that would be enough.

For some things are not made extraordinary by being remembered throughout history.

Some things are extraordinary simply because, for one brief and impossible stretch of time, we were fortunate enough to know them.

And you, my love,

are one of those things the universe did not have to make eternal to make unforgettable.

Had the ancient world known you, perhaps they would have built temples in your honor. Not out of devotion to a god, nor out of fear of the divine, but because humanity has always needed somewhere to place the things it cannot comprehend.

The Egyptians might have traced your silhouette into the walls of their sacred halls, mistaking your grace for the blessing of Hathor. The Persians might have written your name beside the morning star, convinced that no ordinary mortal could carry such quiet brilliance. And somewhere in the forgotten libraries of Alexandria, a philosopher might have abandoned his life's work after realizing that not everything beautiful was meant to be understood.

Perhaps that is where they would have failed.

For you were never meant to be explained by the heavens. You were meant to make the heavens seem a little less extraordinary.

There is a peculiar kind of beauty in you, one that does not announce itself with thunder or demand to be witnessed. It arrives quietly, like sunlight finding its way through the curtains of a room that has known too many lonely mornings. It lingers in the smallest things: the softness of your expression, the unguarded honesty of your smile, the way an ordinary moment seems to acquire a soul simply because you are there to experience it.

And I wonder whether you understand what that means.

Whether you know that somewhere, in the middle of an otherwise forgettable day, someone might remember the sound of your laughter and find the world a little easier to forgive.

If the oceans had been asked to surrender their colors, they would have offered every shade of blue they had ever carried. If the gardens of spring had been asked to surrender their fragrance, they would have gathered every flower that had ever bloomed beneath the patient hands of time. If the moon had been asked to surrender its silver light, it might have descended from the heavens without hesitation.

And still, none of them would have known what to give you.

Because the loveliest things about you are not the things that can be borrowed from nature. They are the things nature could never have taught itself to create.

The way your presence makes silence feel companionable rather than empty.

The way a conversation with you can turn an ordinary evening into a memory one carries long after the details have faded.

The way you exist, entirely unaware that you are becoming someone's favorite part of a world that once felt so unbearably ordinary.

Perhaps the poets would have called you a miracle. The astronomers would have searched the skies for an explanation. The theologians would have debated whether beauty such as yours could belong to the mortal world at all.

But I think they would have been asking the wrong questions.

For what is a miracle, if not something that makes us reconsider what we thought was possible?

And what is beauty, if not the rare occasion on which the heart recognizes something before the mind can give it a name?

You are not beautiful because you resemble a goddess. You are beautiful because even the goddesses, had they been given the chance to stand beside you, might have wondered what it was like to be loved by the world without having to be worshipped by it.

And perhaps that is the loveliest thing I could ever say about you.

That you need not belong among the stars to be extraordinary.

That you need not be immortal to leave something eternal behind.

That you need not become a legend to be remembered.

For legends are what humanity creates when something precious has become too distant to touch. They are stories told across centuries about wonders that no longer walk among us.

But you are here.

Breathing, laughing, living through ordinary days that the world will never think to record. And somehow, to me, that is far more astonishing than any ancient myth could ever be.

So let the heavens keep their constellations. Let the old civilizations keep their goddesses, their temples, their marble statues, and their carefully preserved legends.

If the Norse had known your name, they might have mistaken you for Freyja. Had Rome witnessed your passing, they would have spoken of Venus with less certainty. And had the poets of Greece seen the way light lingers upon you, perhaps even Aphrodite would have become a story rewritten by gentler hands. And if Japan had met your gaze, they would have uttered the name Kichijoten with a trace of hesitation, for how could they speak of a goddess when the original stood before them?

Yet I suspect every civilization would have arrived at the same failure the inability to describe you without resorting to divinity.

For what else could they have done?

If every flower that has ever graced the earth were gathered and arranged at your feet roses steeped in longing, peonies burdened with splendor, lilies clothed in purity, sakura adorned with fleeting grace they would seem less like wonders and more like apologies. Not because they lacked beauty, but because beauty itself had chosen a different form that day.

And if the stars were summoned from their celestial dwellings and scattered around you like fragments of heaven, they would discover a cruelty they had never known that radiance alone is not enough to be remembered.

Had you belonged to another century, painters would have exhausted entire lifetimes in pursuit of your likeness, only to leave unfinished canvases behind. Sculptors would have surrendered their chisels in quiet defeat. Poets, finding language insufficient, would have mistaken their silence for reverence.

For there are certain things that exist beyond the reach of description.

The hush before snowfall.
The final note of a forgotten symphony.
The moon resting upon still water.

And you.

You, who make comparisons feel inadequate and metaphors feel small.

You, for whom history would have invented goddesses, had it not been fortunate enough to witness the original.

So let the Norse keep Freyja. Let Rome keep Venus. Let Greece keep Aphrodite.
They were beautiful answers to a question humanity had been asking for centuries.

You, however,
are the reason the question was asked at all.
