i've burned through a $200 Anthropic API subscription in 2 weeks without doing anything crazy

i realized i fundamentally misunderstood where tokens actually go

tokens burnt ≠ what you type + what AI responds, that's maybe only 20% of it

the other 80% is invisible, full system prompt, context files, entire conversation history resent to the model on EVERY single message

on Opus that's $0.15-0.22 per message before you say a word

here the hack that fixes costs by 80%:
→ slim context files brutally
→ Sonnet as default. Opus on demand only. Costs drop 65% immediately
→ move instructions into skills. description = 20 tokens. Full instructions load only when needed
→ compact at 50-60% context.
→ cron jobs on Sonnet.
→ watch your cache hit rate. <50% means you're overpaying massively

I built a 4-agent system that writes X content.

I give it a topic. It searches X for relevant tweets, stores the research, generates ideas with different hook angles, writes a draft in my voice, and pushes it to Typefully.

The pipeline:

> Research: pulls tweets and stores them in a database
> Ideate: generates structured ideas with hook formulas and key points
> Write: applies voice guide + copywriting frameworks, matches my tone
> Orchestrate: routes the request through each stage

Each agent has its own memory that persists across sessions. The Writer remembers what feedback I gave on past drafts. The Researcher remembers which accounts I like studying.

Built the whole thing with Claude Code. Just markdown prompts, a database, and CLI tools.

A(I)cceleration, Multiple Rerating and The Repricing of Time

What I’m seeing is that breakevens have been drifting lower at the same time the growth data is starting to re-accelerate. That combination is weird as normally, growth firming lifts inflation compensation.

I’ve seen this pattern in three distinct places that don’t usually get discussed together:
- Shenzhen (manufacturing as a learning organism)
- AI agents (software compresses economy cycle time)
- Macro + markets (repricing labor, margins, and the durability of cashflows)

Work harder → automate more → cut costs → ship faster.

In this AI era, I’m increasingly convinced that’s the wrong model, that framing is already stale.

since start of 2026 I've been positioning into metals/miners and I want to explain why.

commodities are back but persistence comes from market structure where it takes time for:

- generalist capital to re-allocate
- benchmarks + mandates + risk models to permit new exposure
- earnings revisions in miners/industrials to show up

i've been modeling copper specifically and the supply/demand imbalance is unavoidable

copper shortfall projected 15M tonnes by 2040, that's S&P Global systemic risk warning

demand drivers I'm tracking:
- AI datacenters use 3x more copper than traditional facilities. up to 50k tonnes per facility
- microsoft stargate project alone could consume more copper than small countries produce annually
- but everyone's focused on AI chips, copper wiring is connecting them
- EVs use 2.9x more copper than ICE vehicles. 60kg more per car. solar adding 500+ GW capacity annually
- grid modernization to GET electricity TO datacenters is MORE copper intensive than datacenters themselves

supply side is suffering from huge shortfalls

new copper mines take 10-15 years discovery to production

major disruptions 2025:
- indonesia mudslides at grasberg (world's #2 mine), chile drought at el teniente, DRC issues at kamoa-kakula
- US resolution copper project blocked by legal appeals. decade+ from production
- pipeline is thin. existing mines facing declining ore grades

2026 rally is infrastructure driven. you can't un-build AI datacenters or reverse EV adoption

we are seeing megatrends converging simultaneously

AI infrastructure + clean energy + grid upgrades all hitting at once, i would suggest paying attention to tokenize copper @TCu29Official, 100% copper backed.

the positioning opportunity:
- mining ETFs returned 195% (silver) 166% (gold) 80% (copper) in 2025
- but market still pricing this as cyclical. generalist capital hasn't rotated in
- institutional mandates take 6-12 months to adjust. risk models still treating commodities as tactical not strategic

earnings revisions for miners lagging price moves. when those hit analysts upgrade targets capital follows

generalist funds underweight commodities because last decade they underperformed but:
- decade-long underperformance = decade of underinvestment in mines = supply shortage when demand surges

market structure creates lag. I'm positioning during the lag before capital flood hits
