What responsibilities does a ship’s captain have during a disaster at sea, and what actions are considered acceptable or unacceptable in such situations? Jen and Rob discuss leadership, duty, and accountability at sea while teaching you some useful new vocabulary along the way

I’d like to talk about a person who has had a profound impact on my life, and that is my uncle, Rustam. He is a senior software engineer and someone I’ve looked up to ever since I was a child.
To be honest, I can’t pinpoint the exact moment I met him because he’s been around my entire life, but my first vivid memory of him was when I was about 10 years old. He brought home a broken computer, and instead of throwing it away, he sat down with me and showed me how to fix it piece by piece. That moment completely sparked my curiosity.
Personality-wise, my uncle is incredibly driven and resilient. He is the kind of person who views every obstacle as a stepping stone rather than a roadblock. Moreover, he possesses a heart of gold and is always willing to go the extra mile to help anyone in need, whether it’s a family member or a complete stranger.
As for how he influenced me, he completely changed the trajectory of my life. Before I started spending time with him, I was quite aimless and didn't care much about my education. He taught me the value of discipline and continuous learning. He didn't just tell me to work hard; he led by example. Seeing him wake up early every single day to study new programming languages inspired me to find my own passion.
Thanks to his guidance, I developed a strong work ethic and learned not to give up when things get tough. In short, he isn’t just my uncle; he is my mentor and the main reason why I am so focused on my future goals today.

The Pulitzer Prize for fiction is the biggest prize in American literature. But this year the judges have made the controversial decision not to award the prize. Why not? Jen and Chris listen to a BBC News report about the ceremony.

To be honest, I'm a big fan of just getting lost in a good book or watching a movie after a long day. It really helps me to switch off from work. But if the weather is nice, I’d much rather go for a walk in the park or meet up with a couple of friends for coffee. I think it’s all about finding that balance between staying active and having some 'me time'
