🇩🇪💥 GERMANY'S EX-SPY CHIEF ARRESTED FOR TREASON – A Decade of Secrets Sold

August Hanning, former head of Germany's foreign intelligence service (BND), has been arrested on suspicion of espionage and attempted treason. Nearly 2,000 classified documents were leaked over 12 years. This is one of the greatest intelligence breaches in post-Cold War German history.

🕵️ Hanning, BND chief from 1998 to 2005, allegedly received nearly 2,000 documents – many classified – from a paid informant over a dozen years up to 2022.

💰 He used the information to profit as a private consultant – including preparing an assessment for a foreign intelligence service.

🤝 The informant was Manfred D., Hanning's former chief of staff – who went on to serve as chief of staff to several subsequent BND presidents from 2012 to 2026.

🌍 Russian or Chinese intelligence were not involved, per German officials – raising the question: who was buying?
