🇷🇺 Volodin Re-Elected as Russia’s State Duma Speaker for a Third Consecutive Term

Vyacheslav Volodin has become the first speaker in the history of Russia’s State Duma to lead the lower house for more than two consecutive terms.

At the first plenary session of the ninth State Duma on September 30, Volodin was re-elected speaker with 406 of 442 deputies voting in his favor. He was nominated by the United Russia faction.

Volodin previously served as speaker of the seventh and eighth State Dumas, beginning his tenure in 2016.
