An unverified claim of rape involving a female student at Lovely Professional University sparked late-night protests on the campus, with the situation escalating into vandalism and a highway blockade.

Students were seen damaging campus property and setting objects ablaze, while the Jalandhar-Phagwara National Highway was blocked twice. Police said they found no complaint or verified details of the alleged incident. LPU rejected the claim as “false and fabricated” and said anti-social elements were behind the unrest.

The blockade disrupted traffic towards Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir before policeintervened.
