The Delhi High Court has dismissed a plea seeking a CBI/SIT probe into allegations of cash found at the residence of Justice Yashwant Varma, questioning the petitioner’s locus.

The case comes amid findings by a Supreme Court-appointed judicial panel, which examined more than 55 witnesses and reportedly found substance in allegations concerning burnt and unburnt cash at the judge’s residence.

Separately, a three-member Judges Inquiry Committee constituted by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla after a removal motion signed by 146 MPs submitted its report on May 18, 2026.

The inquiry also examined the storeroom where the cash was discovered and reportedly found that the area was under the active control of Justice Varma and his family.
