These are the two pipes, or rather conduits, where-through the oliue [olive] branches empty themfelues [themselves] into the golde. .. That at the credit of the olde Bookes (he meaneth of the Old Testament) is to bee tried by the Hebrewe Volumes, fo [so] of the New by the Greeke tongue, he meaneth by the originall Greeke. If trueth is to be tried by thefe [these] tongues, then whence fhould [should] a translation be made, but out of them? These tongues therefore, the Scriptures wee fay [say] in those tongues, wee fet [we set] before vs to tranflate, being the tongues wherein God was pleased to fpeake to his Churche by his Prophets and Apostles. ..."
"Neither did wee thinke much to consult the Tranflators or Commentators, Chaldee, Hebrew, Syrian, Greeke, or Latine, no nor the Spanish, French, or Italian"
