King James I encouraged his son, Henry, to diligently read and search the Scriptures.
First, King James I says the words "TO HENRY MY DEAREST SONNE..." as a title of one section of his book, Basilikon Doron. King James I goes on to write:
"Now, the onely way to bring you to this knowledge, is diligently to reade his word, and earnestly to pray for the right vnderstanding thereof. Search the Scriptures, sayth Christ, for they beare testimonie of me: and, the whole Scripture, saith Paul, is giuen by inspiration of God, and is profitable to teach, to conuince, to correct, and to instruct in righteousnesse; that the man of God may be absolute, being made perfite vnto all good workes."
[Basil-12] (Basilikon Doron by King James I).
Note that King James I quoted and utilized the words of John 5.39 and 2 Timothy 3: 16-17.
