Very real critique of modern Christianity that has permeated virtually all corners of it.
Modern Christianity has made passivity and outward appearances of "niceness" its idols. Obviously some congregations and parishes and denominations are better about this than others, but it is true to some degree nearly universally.
If billions of babies were being aborted in the Medieval period, the Pope would command the monarchs and leaders of all Catholic kingdoms to publicly execute the abortion doctors. If this wasn't done, the Pope would make a call for action to the parishioners in the affected areas. We all know this to be true.
The Church and Christians abroad will admit that issues like abortion are the largest and most industrialized genocides in human history, but will insist you MUST do nothing about it other than prayer and protest.
Passivity (the false peace) is an idol that must be condemned.
