By the way, once you narrow down these language differences, Christ's ethics concerning this are very similar to Gaulic anti-kin slaying blood feud ethics.
Our ancestors the European "barbarians" are often depicted as savages, but in reality the Germanic/Nordic cultural norms dictated "turn the other cheek" type ethics within family and clan units, because to have blood feuds within kin often meant the end of the clan and thus posed a terrible threat to the Germanic/Nordic society if not handled amicably. I do NOT think this made them weak, as many foolish people these days would have you believe any form of "mercy" is weakness. In fact I think this culture gave the Gauls/Nords such incredible strength as an interwoven and dominant European society.
