🏆 Beginner's guide to Telegram Gifts: what are they, anyway?

⚫️ Most of our readers are already familiar with gifts in Telegram. But new people are constantly entering the ecosystem, and at first they have plenty of questions. Plus, if you want to send a limited gift to someone who knows nothing about it, how do you quickly explain its value? That’s why we're launching the #gifts series — so a single link to these posts will be enough.

⚫️ Let’s start with the basics: what’s the point? Durov introduced gifts back in VK, but that didn’t cause much buzz. Why is this different? After all, many social networks have virtual gifts — essentially pixel packs you can buy to make someone happy. But usually, such gifts can be purchased an unlimited number of times, and every copy looks exactly the same.

⚫️ Telegram has those kinds of gifts too. But the hype is around a different kind: limited gifts. They have three key distinctions:
· They can be resold
· They are released in a fixed number of copies
· Once “upgraded,” each copy becomes unique

⚫️ This opens up new ways to use gifts. You can treat them as an investment, buying for yourself to resell later. You can collect them, hunting for rare editions. You can flaunt your wealth by displaying expensive ones on your Telegram profile. And so on.

⚫️ In some ways, it’s like traditional stamp collecting, where philatelists chase rare issues. And it also resembles NFTs — in fact, these gifts can be converted into that format. Still, they retain their original purpose: making someone close to you happy.
