⭕️ Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has called for an emergency parliamentary session to seek authorization for the armed forces to defend and support Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states if requested.

Sisi stressed that any Egyptian intervention would be strictly defensive, not offensive, and affirmed that Cairo would not abandon its Gulf allies. He said any necessary measures would be coordinated with Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The president made the remarks during a graduation ceremony for the first class of the Egyptian Military Academy at its new headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.
