❗️Italy investigates Israeli war minister, senior officials over Gaza flotilla abuses

Italian prosecutors said on Friday that Israeli War Minister Israel Katz and senior army, police, and prison officials have been placed under investigation over the treatment of Gaza flotilla activists.

The investigation, which initially focused on Israel's National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, has now been expanded to include additional senior Israeli officials.

The case involves suspected torture, kidnapping, personal injury, robbery, and property damage during Israeli interceptions of small flotillas heading towards Gaza in 2025 and 2026, according to a statement from the Rome prosecutors' office.

The probe was launched following complaints filed by 50 Italian citizens detained by Israeli authorities after two Global Sumud Flotilla missions, one conducted between September and October 2025 and another between April and May 2026.
