❗️China urges Israel to halt settlement expansion in occupied West Bank and reopen Gaza crossings

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi urged Israel to halt and reverse the forced establishment of settlements in the occupied West Bank and called for all access routes into Gaza to be fully reopened during separate meetings with Israeli President Isaac Herzog and Palestinian Foreign Minister Varsen Aghabekian Shahin in Baku, Azerbaijan on Thursday.

Wang said the Palestinian question remains the “biggest historical injustice” since World War II and warned that the two million Palestinians in Gaza must not be forgotten as they struggle to survive.

In his meeting with Shahin, Wang reaffirmed Beijing’s support for the Palestinian people’s legitimate national rights and pledged to continue advocating for Palestine in international forums.

He said lasting regional peace would remain unattainable without a just resolution of the Palestinian question. The meetings took place on the sidelines of the seventh summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia.
