❗️Washington Post demands investigation after Israeli settlers assault photojournalist in occupied West Bank

The Washington Post has called for a thorough investigation after its photojournalist Heidi Levine was assaulted by Israeli settlers today while covering an attack on Palestinian olive harvesters in Abu Falah, northeast of Ramallah.

Levine was wearing clearly visible press markings when she was knocked to the ground and beaten. She was taken to hospital for treatment and was reported to be in stable condition.

"We are outraged by this unwarranted attack on a journalist doing her job and urge a thorough investigation and follow-through from authorities," the newspaper said in a statement, adding that it was relieved Levine had received medical care and was safe.

The assault occurred during a wider Israeli settler attack on Palestinian farmers harvesting olives. Settlers also burned olive trees and threw stones at villagers. Israeli occupation forces were present at the scene, and witnesses reported that soldiers fired tear gas towards Palestinians.
