❗️Hezbollah MP condemns seizure of vehicle belonging to resistance, warns against targeting its weapons

In a press statement issued on 15 October, Hezbollah MP Hassan Fadlallah condemned the seizure of a vehicle belonging to the resistance movement carrying equipment at the Dahr al-Baydar checkpoint, saying Lebanese political and media parties were exploiting the incident to serve Israeli interests.

Fadlallah said the equipment was intended for use “exclusively against the Israeli occupation,” adding that the resistance immediately informed security and judicial authorities that the vehicle and its contents belonged to it and demanded the release of those detained and the return of the confiscated equipment.

He criticized the Lebanese authorities for remaining silent as Israel continues committing crimes against civilians in occupied Lebanese villages, while failing to condemn these attacks even at the United Nations.

Fadlallah stressed that the resistance had initially attempted to resolve the matter away from political and media disputes, out of concern for domestic stability and to prevent Israel from benefiting from the controversy.

However, the authorities insisted on exploiting the incident to pursue objectives that “serve only this enemy and those lying in wait to harm the country.”

He also rejected the government's 2 March decision targeting the resistance's weapons, describing it as unconstitutional, imposed through foreign dictates, and “a null and void decision” whose effects the resistance does not recognize.

He maintained that the resistance's legitimacy does not come from authorities that have abandoned their responsibility to defend Lebanese sovereignty and protect the population.

Warning that measures aligned with US and Israeli demands threaten Lebanon's internal stability, Fadlallah urged the authorities to reverse their decisions and stop threatening resistance fighters with prosecution.

He said the resistance “will defend the rights of its people and the capabilities it uses to confront the Israeli enemy” and “will not tolerate any targeting” by parties implementing US demands.

He further warned that inflammatory campaigns against the resistance, threats of prosecution, and suggestions of referring the case to the Judicial Council undermine national dialogue and civil peace, potentially leading to consequences in which “no one will know where the country is headed.”
