❗️Whistleblower who exposed US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick's Epstein ties found 'dead by suicide'
Simon Andriesz, a former employee of US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick who alerted Congress to Lutnick's ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, has died at the age of 57, The Banker reported.
Andriesz was a British former Wall Street banker who had worked under Lutnick at BGC Partners, where he later raised concerns about accounting irregularities.
Earlier this year, Andriesz shared a 2018 email chain with House Oversight Committee lawmakers showing Lutnick and Epstein discussing Adfin, a digital advertising company in which both had invested. The correspondence contradicted Lutnick's previous claims that he had cut off contact with Epstein after meeting him in 2005.
Lutnick acknowledged to the Senate Appropriations Committee in February that he and his family had visited Epstein's private island in 2012, saying he did not recall why they had gone.
Andriesz had also raised concerns about Lutnick's business ties to Epstein with the FBI in 2020 and 2021, according to the BBC, but the agency did not investigate the allegations. His death was confirmed to The Banker by Andy Agathangelou, founder of the Transparency Task Force.
