❗️Europe’s diesel reserve plan is an attempt 'to slow down the bleed'
The details of Europe's plan to release diesel reserves remain unclear, according to Naeem Aslam, chief investment officer at London-based Zaye Capital Markets, who told Al Jazeera that the agreement was "very sketchy" from an operational perspective.
"The announcement seems to be intended to ease off the pressure, but the actual structural changes, who is going to release them, and where the bans would be lifted, remains unclear," Aslam said.
He described the move as an attempt to "slow down the bleed," arguing that uncertainty over implementation could increase market volatility.
Aslam said the measures do not resolve disruptions linked to the Strait of Hormuz, which he said continue to undermine confidence in energy markets. His comments followed the G7 agreement to coordinate the release of up to 100 million barrels of diesel and crude oil over the next four months.
