❗️US Energy Department engineer arrested over alleged support for Ansarallah

A US Department of Energy electrical engineer has been arrested on charges of allegedly providing material support to Ansarallah, including purchasing materials for homemade explosives and drones and traveling to Yemen, according to CBS News, citing the US Justice Department.

Ashton Hamed Ellaboudy, 51, of Richland, Washington, was arrested Thursday and was due to appear in court on Friday.

The FBI alleges that Ellaboudy sought to help Ansarallah improve its communications capabilities and traveled to Yemen in September 2025, using a passport issued during his previous work with the US Army Corps of Engineers.

Ellaboudy faces charges under a US law prohibiting material support for organizations designated as foreign terrorist organizations. If convicted, he could face up to 20 years in prison, according to the Justice Department.
