❗️UAE vice president visits Saudi Arabia amid Gulf rift
UAE Vice President Mansour bin Zayed Al-Nahyan visited Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, where he met Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the kingdom's defense minister, marking the first visit by a senior UAE official to the kingdom since a major rift emerged between the two Gulf states last year.
The visit, which came at the invitation of Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman, took place as Riyadh faces mounting pressure from Ansarallah, who have launched repeated waves of missiles and drones toward the kingdom in recent weeks.
Saudi Arabia has been seeking international support to confront Ansarallah, although it was not immediately clear whether that appeal included the UAE.
The UAE was previously Saudi Arabia's key regional partner in the war against Ansarallah.
Al-Nahyan and Prince Khalid discussed issues of mutual interest and measures to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the two countries, according to a post by the Saudi Defense Ministry on X.
In a separate meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Tuesday, Al-Nahyan discussed the "fraternal relations" between the two countries as well as regional developments, Saudi state news agency reported.
