❗️Omani pilot suspected of trying to crash Flydubai aircraft to Tel Aviv carrying 150 passengers

A pilot is suspected of attempting to crash a Flydubai passenger aircraft carrying 150 passengers while en route from Dubai to Tel Aviv, Israeli outlet Ynet reported on Tuesday. The pilot is allegedly Omani and the second pilot was Emirati, according to Ynet.

The Boeing 737 transmitted emergency signals before diverting to Saudi Arabia, where it landed safely at Tabuk airport. Reuters reported that an Israeli official, speaking anonymously, said the pilots transmitted the signals after getting into a physical altercation. It was unclear whether either pilot intentionally transmitted the signals.

Reuters also cited a passenger's family member who said her daughter heard screaming and that a man holding a knife had forced one of the pilots onto the floor. Circulating reports online indicate a stabbing took place.

Reuters could not independently verify the account or an image published by Israeli media that appeared to show a bloodstained passenger shirt.

The Israeli prime minister's office said the situation was "under control" and that efforts were underway to return the Israeli passengers to Israel.
