❗️Israeli attacks lead Gaza deaths as child mortality surges in 2025

Gaza's Health Ministry recorded 24,650 deaths in the Strip in 2025, according to its first official mortality report since 2022. Direct Israeli attacks were the leading cause, accounting for 70.1 percent of deaths.

Men accounted for 73.4 percent of recorded deaths and women 26.6 percent, with Gaza City registering the highest share at 37.3 percent, followed by North Gaza at 20.2 percent, Khan Yunis at 19.5 percent, the Middle Area at 12.3 percent and Rafah at 10.7 percent.

The ministry also reported a sharp rise in child mortality, with deaths among children under five reaching 33.4 per 1,000 live births in 2025, compared with 13.6 in 2022. It said the rate would have stood at 15.8 without deaths caused by the ongoing genocide.
