❗️Iran warns of winter gas shortages after US-Israeli attacks

Iran warned that northern provinces could face energy shortages this winter after US-Israeli attacks damaged gas production capacity, with the government working to restore part of the losses, IRIN reported.

Government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani said the attacks cost around 230 million cubic meters of production capacity, while efforts are underway to restore roughly 100 million cubic meters.

She said the damage compounded an existing energy supply imbalance that the government had managed through previous winters and summers with public cooperation.

"Based on the pattern of past years, we will probably have problems in the northern provinces," Mohajerani said. She added that governors had been warned and measures were being taken to protect households, while the Supreme Energy Council would seek to maintain industrial operations without compromising residential supplies.

Mohajerani said the government hoped to get through the winter with "minimal blackouts and minimal problems."
