❗️Amnesty International stages 'End Genocide' protest at Austria-Israel Nations League match

Amnesty International Austria displayed an "End Genocide" banner inside the stadium in Linz on Thursday as Austria faced Israel in the opening group match of the men's UEFA Nations League.

The protest renewed Amnesty's call for UEFA and FIFA to suspend the Israel Football Association over evidence that it continues to support Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Amnesty campaigner Alexander Weihrauch said Israel's "ongoing genocide" in Gaza, its "system of apartheid" against Palestinians and "ethnic cleansing in Area C" of the occupied West Bank must remain in public attention.

Amnesty first called on FIFA and UEFA to suspend the Israel Football Association in October 2025 unless clubs based in settlements were excluded from Israeli leagues.

FIFA rejected the call in March 2026. Amnesty is also calling on Austria and other EU states to suspend the EU-Israel Association Agreement and halt trade with implicated settlement entities.
