❗️Iran condemns Colombia over severing of diplomatic ties

Iran's Foreign Ministry has rejected what it called "baseless claims" by Colombia following Bogotá's decision to sever diplomatic relations with the Islamic Republic.

Colombia cited national and hemispheric security concerns, alleged links to international terrorist and narcoterrorist groups, human rights violations, attacks against other countries, the Strait of Hormuz and restrictions on International Atomic Energy Agency inspections.

In response, the Iranian Foreign Ministry accused Colombia of lacking the standing to lecture Tehran on terrorism and drugs, pointing to Colombia's own problems with drug cartels. Tehran also described Bogotá's decision as "unjustified" and said it was taken under US and Israeli pressure, according to a statement carried by WANA.

Colombia has maintained consular relations with Iran despite the diplomatic break and separately designated Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization.
