❗️Iran says foreign flights will continue despite US threats against its airlines

Foreign flights operated by Iranian airlines will continue as scheduled from the beginning of October, Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization said, according to the ISNA news agency.

The statement comes after US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent warned that Iranian airlines could be effectively shut out of international operations from 23 September, with foreign companies facing sanctions for providing them with fuel, landing services or ticketing.

The US Treasury announced sanctions against 27 Iranian airlines earlier this month.

A spokesperson for Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization said no foreign flights operated by Iranian airlines had been cancelled so far and that all were operating according to schedule, ISNA reported.

The official added that passengers would be notified in advance of any changes and stressed that no instructions had been issued to halt foreign flights.
