The full biblical interpretation of all statues and all idolatry II:
2 Kings 18:1,4 KJB
Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign.
He removed the high places, and brake the images, and cut down the groves, and brake in pieces the brasen serpent that Moses had made:for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: and he called it Nehushtan.
Some landmarks are statues or memorials (such as ones in Proverbs 22:28 KJB and the ones in 2 Kings 18:1,4, and Scripture says these ones are not to be removed (until they become worshipped which is when it becomes an idol as in 2 Kings 18:1,4 )
Proverbs 22:28 KJB
Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.
Another example of a statue being a landmark, not an idol, is in Joshua 22, the Ruebenites, Gadites, and half tribe of Manasseh built an altar called "Ed" by the Jordan River as a memorial ("a witnessto show the rest of the other Tribes Israelities that in Verses 24-28 that they were still allowed to bring their burnt offerings before the LORD at Shiloh in spite of their physical lands being across the Jordan River from the other tribes of the biblical Israelites.
1) Another example of landmarks not being idols is in Joshua 4, where there is a triple memorial of 3 sets of stones.
When Joshua obeyed the LORD's command of having 12 men take stones out of the midst of the Jordan River and put them where the Israelities lodged.
2) Then Joshua put another 12 stones where the priests' feet stood in the midst of the Jordan River as a memorial, and at the time of Joshua, verse 9 of Joshua 4 records that those stones were still there.
3) The 3rd memorial was where the 12 stones taken out of Jordan River were pitched in Gilgal as per Verses 20-24.
And its interesting that The Celts, Germanic Tribes, And many White European nations have used stone memorials and heroic memorials just like the ancient Hebrews/ancient Israelities did.
Another memorial/landmark is Jacob's mention of the tomb of Abraham and his family in Genesis 49:30-32 and Jacob's death & burial there at 50:1-14.
