The Belgorod Brit gives us his take on the United Nations. What's that all about? In the film, he recounts the beginning of the League of Nations in 1920, its motivations and major players and its demise. The LoN was set up to prevent WW2, and to enforce standards and norms for conflicts it could not prevent. The British wanted a colonial police force payed for by the colonies themselves, the USA wanted it to protect trade and allow them to enforce 'rules' where necessary, the French wanted an international LoN peace-keeping force which would force rogue countries to bend to their will, and everyone else wanted them to bugger off and leave everyone alone.

In the podcast, BB explains why the UN is an extension of the LoN but with an idealogical bent, why Netanyahu is right to call them moral cowards (and why he should be happy that they are), why the UN is in New York even though the USA doesn't pay for it, and why it is as doomed to failure as its predecessor. When coke-fiends, drug dealers, weapons peddlars, child murderers, war criminals, grand larcenists, genociders and terrorists are gathered together in one place, you might be forgiven for thinking there should be bars on the windows and guardtowers preventing their escape - but it's actually the UN building in New York.
