Most UK diplomats and the consul general are leaving the British Consulate in occupied East Jerusalem after ~~Israel~~ ordered its operations to close, while the UK says the building will remain open as the “UK Mission, Jerusalem.”

~~Israel~~i Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said 20 diplomats, including the consul general, will leave, while seven diplomats will remain with a limited scope of activity.

UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband said the UK does not accept ~~Israel~~’s right to close the consulate and reiterated that East Jerusalem is occupied territory.

He said the mission will continue providing vital services and working with the Palestinian people.
